This text stems from the need to guide and direct students as well as professionals towards a mindful use of the tool and technique. It offers a learning pathway that provides a structured workflow designed to ensure controlled management of the digital 2D and 3D orthographic CAD design process. At the heart of the project are 14 short video lessons outlining procedures using Autodesk’s AutoCAD software (an application designed for the Windows operating system, though its general procedural approach can also be extended to macOS). While strongly influenced by the structure of the chosen software, these lessons are grounded in management criteria that can be adapted to other programs as well. Accompanying and completing the ‘visual’ narrative are a brief introductory text, a type of ‘annotated glossary’ covering select terms used in design representation – specifically digital representation – and 14 infographics guiding users through the content of each lesson.
