In his editorial, Vito Cardone places the XYdigitale project within a broader international debate on visual culture and the role of images in the construction of knowledge. Drawing on Klaus Hentschel’s volume Visual Cultures in Science and Technology, the text reflects on the importance of visual representations in science, technology, art, architecture and knowledge processes.
“XY” emerges as an interdisciplinary space for discussion devoted to the vast world of images: a place to explore the territories and frontiers of representation, overcoming rigid boundaries between disciplines and highlighting the role of images as critical, creative, and scientific tools. From this perspective, the journal confirms itself to be a timely and necessary project: the right idea at the right time.
