Elena Enciso is a PhD student in the Inter-university PhD Programme City, territory and Sustainable Planning at the University of Malaga, Spain. She has a national PhD student contract and teaching collaboration in the department of Art and Architecture in Urban and Territorial planning. Her research encompasses dimensions of social architecture, specific migration, the gender approach and citizen participation. In addition, she hahsIn 2023, she has done a research stay as an academic visiting researcher at the Università degli Studi di Bari “Aldo Moro” participating in two projects: The Jean Monnet Module: Migration, Borders and Human Rights and Observatory on the reception of asylum seekers and detention of irregular migrants. Parallel to her research work, it is worth mentioning the course The Collective City given by the association Architects Without Borders. This course gave her the tools of methodologies and knowledge about strategies and case studies of citizen participation.
